Lares Valley Andean Poncho
Handwoven by Quechua-speaking artisans in the Lares community of Cusco, Peru, near the Sacred Valley of the Incas, this Andean poncho reflects generations of textile knowledge and craftsmanship.
Vibrant reds, blues, purples, white, brown and black bring together the rich visual character of Andean textiles. Warm and comfortable, it is both a functional garment and a piece of wearable textile art.
In the Peruvian Andes, poncho colors, patterns and weaving styles can represent regional identity and community tradition. Ponchos continue to be worn in daily life and for festivals, weddings and village gatherings.
